JAPAP Messenger is a multi-purpose African social super-app published by JAPAP Technology PLC. It combines, in a single app, encrypted messaging, a multi-currency wallet, a community marketplace, a social network (Feed, Reels, long-form video), reward-based games, crowdfunding and creator tools.

Designed for emerging markets (Africa, South-East Asia, Latin America), the application is available in more than 70 countries and natively supports 14 languages. Every module is engineered to run on low-bandwidth 2G/3G networks with offline caching and local mobile payments.

JAPAP Messenger runs on a distributed cloud-native architecture: a React frontend (installable PWA), an asynchronous Python FastAPI backend, a managed PostgreSQL database, S3-compatible object storage and a global CDN.

Real-time is powered by a persistent WebSocket bus. AI inference (moderation, summarisation, translation) is orchestrated across a multi-model pool (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini) with automatic failover on degradation.

JAPAP Messenger bundles ten interconnected modules: every action (sending a message, buying, playing, donating) can trigger a wallet transaction and surface in the social feed depending on privacy preferences.

Security is treated as a first-class product concern. All communications run over HTTPS (TLS 1.3), passwords are hashed with bcrypt at cost 12, and session authentication relies on short JWT tokens paired with HttpOnly cookies.

JAPAP Messenger enforces a minimal-retention policy: KYC data is encrypted at rest, logs are anonymised after 30 days, and users can export or delete their data at any time (GDPR, CCPA, Ivorian Law 2013-450 compliant).

AI is core to JAPAP: automatic toxic-content moderation, article summaries, on-the-fly translation into 14 languages, personalised recommendations and real-time fraud detection.

Every product module is augmented with an AI layer: the marketplace auto-generates optimised titles and descriptions, the feed suggests relevant hashtags, and the wallet flags unusual transactions to protect the user.

JAPAP Messenger natively supports 14 languages (French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi, Bengali, Swahili, Tagalog, Khmer, Lingala, Russian, Tamil, Yoruba) and auto-detects the visitor's preferred language via IP geolocation.

The wallet handles 20+ local currencies with real-time FX rates and local payment gateways: Paystack (Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa), Hubtel (Ghana), Flutterwave (Pan-African), Stripe (international) and many more.
